Aurora's Journal (I) - Sunday, 30 May 1999, late evening
There is something to be said for studying the skies with the naked eye rather than through the lenses of a telescope. It makes it so much clearer then that one is not nearly so significant in the face of the vastness of the skies. The whole picture, rather than the singular view an astronomer normally is prone to seeing, can be quite overwhelming if you allow it to be.

The full moon tonight is especially lovely and definitely fitting of its name this month - the Milk moon - though now it is hard to catch sight of Regulus without the use of a telescope. It was rather bright in the sky last week right next to the moon, a sign of the little king's return to the higher part of the skies. I wonder what event of significance can be connected to it? That placement means something of significance is to occur. In the distant past it was the rise (metaphorical or actual) of royalty but there is hardly much of that in modern times.
